From practice For smaller gigs I no longer carry a laptop. I open the library on a tablet right at the booth, swipe through the playlist with my finger and immediately see what to play next. It all runs in the browser, so I install nothing and all the data stays on my device. I turn on large rows so the title and artist stay readable even in the dark and from a distance.

From the full Engine DJ database the app builds a shrunk copy - metadata only (artist, title, BPM, key, genre, cue points), without artwork or beat-grids. A ~2 GB database becomes a file of a few megabytes that fits in memory even on a tablet or phone, where the full database wouldn't load. Engine DJ offers nothing like it.

From practice The full Engine database is huge and won't load into the browser on my tablet. So I have a slim version built - it contains only what I need for prep and playback, and it's a few megabytes instead of gigabytes. I drop it onto my phone and tablet and have the library with me all the time, even without a laptop. The app can save it back to the folder, so next time it loads instantly.

Install DJanalyzer as a standalone app in one click - a system icon and its own window without the browser bar - with no heavy desktop installer like Engine DJ. It works offline and updates itself. On phone and tablet use „Add to Home screen".

From practice I don't want to hunt for the app in browser bookmarks every time, so I installed it as a program in one click.
