Services That Let DJanalyzer Do More

DJanalyzer builds on your Engine DJ library and makes use of other services too: SoundSwitch lighting, tips from Spotify and ListenBrainz, or converting playlists and libraries. Each comes with a short guide on how to use it with DJanalyzer.

Engine DJ

Free · saving in Pro

DJanalyzer is a companion to Engine DJ by inMusic. It works directly with your Engine Library (the m.db database and the hm.db history) from Engine DJ Desktop and from Prime, SC Live and SC6000 consoles. It loads the library, helps you prepare and clean it up, and saves changes back so you see them in Engine DJ right away.

How to

  1. On your computer, close Engine DJ (and Lexicon, if you use it).
  2. Open the app at open.djanalyzer.com in Chrome, Edge or Brave.
  3. On the first screen click "Connect library" and pick the Engine Library folder - the one that contains the Database2 folder, not the m.db file itself. Allow the browser access.
  4. Prepare playlists, clean up titles or delete duplicates. With Pro you save the changes back to Engine DJ - a backup of m.db is made automatically before every save.
  5. Open Engine DJ and you see the changes in the library, then sync your USB drive or SD card as usual.

Good to know

  • Restore a backup in the app under Settings → m.db database backup.
  • Saving to Engine DJ only works from a computer. Tablets and phones cannot load the full database - send them a slim copy (about 25 MB) from your computer via Settings → Device transfer (Pro).
  • Browsers without folder access (Safari, Firefox) can only load the database by hand with "Load Engine DJ DB"; saving changes back needs Chrome, Edge or Brave.

SoundSwitch

Studio

DJanalyzer plays the light shows you prepared in SoundSwitch in sync with the music - without the SoundSwitch program running. All you need is a SoundSwitch interface connected via USB to your computer or tablet.

How to

  1. Get the Studio plan, a SoundSwitch interface (DMX Micro, DMX Micro v2, Control One or V1 Interface) and your SoundSwitch project on disk (the folder with the .ssproj).
  2. Close the SoundSwitch program - only one program can drive the interface at a time.
  3. In the app open Settings → SoundSwitch project (.ssproj) → Pick folder and choose the Soundswitch folder or the project folder. The app finds the track map, venue and autoloops on its own.
  4. Connect the interface via USB (on an Android tablet through a USB-OTG adapter), open the SoundSwitch section (Lights on a tablet) and click "Switch the lights on".
  5. Play a track: tracks with a prepared show follow their script, and for tracks without one you can let a chosen autoloop run to the beat.

Good to know

  • In the Realtime control tab you change colours, strobe, UV and moving-head movement, or freeze the lights. Laser, strobe and fog have to be enabled first.
  • The SS column shows whether a track has a show: a solid green dot is a sure match, a hollow amber ring a guess from the name.
  • The interface works in Chrome or Edge on a computer and in Chrome on an Android tablet. iPad and iPhone do not support USB interfaces in the browser.

Spotify

Pro

With DJanalyzer, Spotify helps you twice: with tips for the next tracks and with client wishes sent as a Spotify playlist. DJanalyzer does not play or download music from Spotify - it only plays files from your own library.

How to

  1. Tips for the next tracks: play a track and open the "Online" tab in the player. If ListenBrainz finds too few tips, DJanalyzer adds more from the artist's "Radio" playlist on Spotify (marked "Spotify Radio").
  2. For every tip you instantly see whether the track is in your library.
  3. Turn a client's Spotify wishlist into a CSV file (with TuneMyMusic, see below, or Exportify) and import it into DJanalyzer.

Good to know

  • You do not need a Spotify account or sign-in in DJanalyzer.
  • Music recommendations and wishlist import are in the Pro plan.

ListenBrainz

Pro

ListenBrainz is an open music database by the non-profit MetaBrainz Foundation with data on what people listen to one after another. DJanalyzer uses it to find tracks similar to the one that is playing.

How to

  1. Nothing to set up and no account or sign-in needed - you only need an internet connection.
  2. Play a track and open the "Online" tab in the player.
  3. You get up to 12 tips (at most 2 per artist) marked "ListenBrainz". Tracks more than 18 % off in tempo are left out.
  4. Each tip shows whether it is in your library - so you know right away what to play and what to get.

Good to know

  • Music recommendations are part of the Pro plan.

TuneMyMusic

Import in Pro

TuneMyMusic moves playlists between music services and can save them to a file. It is handy when a client sends a wishlist as a playlist on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or elsewhere - in a few minutes you have a playlist from your own library.

How to

  1. On tunemymusic.com choose the service with the playlist (for example Spotify) as the source and pick the playlist.
  2. Choose export to a file as the destination and download it as CSV.
  3. In DJanalyzer open Playlists → Import… → Import CSV… (or the CSV import tile on the first screen) and drop the file into the window.
  4. DJanalyzer matches the list against your library: sure matches are linked, unclear versions are offered for a check and missing tracks are listed separately. Then you save the finished playlist to Engine DJ.

Good to know

  • The importer looks for artist and title columns (for example "Artist name" and "Track name") and also understands an Exportify export. You can also paste the list as text, one line per track as "Artist - Title".
  • Wishlist import is in the Pro plan. TuneMyMusic terms and prices are on their website.

Mixo

Standalone app

DJanalyzer only works with an Engine DJ library. If your library lives in rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, VirtualDJ or another program, the Mixo app converts it to Engine DJ - with playlists, cue points, beatgrids, artwork, ratings and metadata.

How to

  1. Install Mixo (Windows, macOS or Linux) and import the library from your DJ program.
  2. Export it to Engine DJ. Syncing between DJ programs is in Mixo's paid Gold plan.
  3. Open Engine DJ and check the library is complete - tracks, playlists and cue points.
  4. Then connect the library in DJanalyzer like any other Engine DJ library (see Engine DJ above).

Good to know

  • Mixo is a separate app from another company and DJanalyzer does not connect to it. Back up your original library before converting.
